The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are a 9 piece group from Chicago who have been recording since 2004, while previously they had been performing as a street ensemble. Eight members of the band are all sons of jazz musician Phil Cohran. Luckily for us Irish, they love playing over here and they have announced at least 3 dates for Ireland again next Summer.
I saw them last year when they played in Limerick and they really put on an amazing, very energetic, loud and exciting show. They were notable collaborators on the last Gorillaz album, Plastic Beach, and have also recorded with Erykah Badu and Mos Def among many others.
Their self titled 2009 album recorded on the Honest Jon's label is their most accessible to date.
